Seventy-seven Signs, Ace of Carts, Crossmount Cider Company: Lorax Sponsors

Care for Kids by Wiegers Inc. has been raising money for local children’s charities since 2009, the primary beneficiary of which remains Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. To date, we have raised more than $1,300,000 for the Foundation which was used to fund a dedicated pediatric surgical suite and the pediatric outpatient area in Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. Our 2022 FUNdraising event, obSEUSSed Comedy Cabaret, is taking place on September 24th. We are thrilled to recognize and show appreciation for our three latest amazing sponsors, Seventy-Seven Signs, Ace of Carts and Crossmount Cider Company who each generously stepped up as In-kind LORAX sponsors of our 2022 event!

Meet Seventy-Seven Signs

We're often asked, "how did you choose the name - Seventy-Seven Signs?"

Is there a hidden meaning? Well, it was late in 1976 and the company was in its infancy. ‘76 Signs’ didn’t sound right. But ‘77 Signs’ did. They were right, it was better and so it stuck.

40 years ago this decision was made. Throughout the years there have been other important decisions that helped them maintain, grow and meet your needs. Just think for a moment how signs have changed over the last 40 years.

High voltage neon was being used everywhere. Although neon will never be completely replaced, technology has given us LED and it’s here to stay. LED is even replacing fluorescent lighting. At one time they hand-painted each letter on a sign! Now automated equipment prints and cuts all the lettering. One or two colour advertising is no longer standard, full colour printing is being demanded by everyone. Technology is driving live animation on electronic screens in front of businesses, even with time-of-day advertising.

What hasn’t changed is the need for businesses like yours to advertise and maintain brand recognition through an effective sign program. This is their strength. They work with businesses to drive customers to your door. From this, their corporate statement was born:

Signs that Power Business.

Meet Crossmount Cider Company

The Crossmount Cider Company was incorporated in 2014. The first apple tree saplings were planted this same year and the cider press, washers and fermentation tanks were ordered.  Their master cider maker began their quest to produce a variety of excellent apple hard ciders which would appeal to the discerning tastes of Saskatchewanians and beyond. In 2015, the Crossmount Cider Company logo was finalized and the cider press, washers and fermentation tanks were installed. More apple trees were added to the orchards and, since their own trees were too young to produce fruit, they made the first trucking runs to the Okanagan to bring back apples ripe for pressing. By January of 2016, the first batch of juice was in the fermentation tanks and after approximately four months the cider was ready to be bottled.

Three varieties of Crossmount Cider Company’s signature blend were launched in the spring of 2016. These were Flatlander Gold, Flatlander Dry and Flatlander Crisp. By summer, a fourth blend, called Citri-Hopped, was added and this was followed by a fifth blend, named Cider & Black, in early 2017.

On-site apple orchards will produce a variety of apples developed at the University of Saskatchewan. Included is a space dedicated to the growth of specialized apples for the production of ice cider, as well as a U-pick dessert orchard which will be open to the public once the trees have reached maturity.

Their cider experts are constantly working on new and innovative blends, including seasonal varieties. All products are made from fresh apples pressed on site and handcrafted with the full line of production taking place in the on-site cidery.
