Save On Foods, Pedal Pub, & Riide: Lorax Sponsors

Care for Kids by Wiegers Inc. has been raising money for local children’s charities since 2009, the primary beneficiary of which remains Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation. To date, we have raised more than $1,300,000 for the Foundation which was used to fund a dedicated pediatric surgical suite and the pediatric outpatient area in Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital. Our 2022 FUNdraising event, obSEUSSed Comedy Cabaret, is taking place on September 24th. We are thrilled to recognize and show appreciation for our three latest wonderful sponsors, Save On Foods, Pedal Pub and Riide who each generously stepped up as In-kind LORAX sponsors of our 2022 event!

MEET SAVE ON FOODS

Save On Foods is a chain of Supermarkets located across Western Canada owned by the Pattison Food Group.  Stores carry both standard brands and private label brands, such as Western Family.  Today Save-On-Foods operates 177 stores across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the Yukon Territory.

The Save-On-Foods brand was launched in British Columbia in 1982 by Overwaitea Foods, which had been founded in 1915 and was later purchased by Jimmy Pattison in 1968.  Most Overwaitea branded stores were gradually converted to Save-On-Foods stores beginning in the 1980s

Until 2015, Save-On-Foods operated exclusively in the provinces of British Columbia and Albert. In July 2015, the company revealed it was planning to open as many as 40 stores in Manitoba and Saskatchewan over the following three to five years, the first of which was scheduled to open in 2016, including three locations in Winnipeg and four in Saskatchewan.

MEET RIIDE

In 1972, Garth Swan acquired Yellow Cab and Diamond Grey from United Cabs.  His desire for business and being a local to the City of Saskatoon inspired him to continue his passion for transportation and hospitality.  In 1990, BlueLine Taxi was created when a portion of the taxies was transferred to this company, they were a "chauffeur service at taxi rates". This helped elevate the company's customer service and the growing demands of Saskatoon's population. This created the United Group. In 2005, Prestige Car Service bought Quality Cab and joined The United Group, this allowed the motto "the difference between getting there and arriving" In 2018 United Cabs then amalgamated with Comfort Cabs and this is when they joined the riide brand.

The riide brand is an alliance of private hire operators who have come together to develop a global app designed to make the booking of everyday vehicles to local operators seamless.  The riide app now serves Canada, USA, UK and Ireland

How to riide:

  1. Download the app
  2. Choose your vehicle, book now or prebook and track your driver on the app
  3. Upon arrival at your destination, pay by cash, card or business account.

It really is that easy.
